COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A 40-hour advanced polygraph examiner course which meets the requirements of the American Polygraph Association (APA) and the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and qualifies graduates to administer court ordered polygraph testing of convicted sex offenders as a Supervision and Treatment Tool. Probation or Treatment providers will find the course helpful in treatment and may also attend for information but may not administer polygraph tests. The course qualifies as continuing education advanced training for all polygraph examiners.

INSTRUCTORS:

The MICJ instructional staff will present three days regarding specialized polygraph techniques and testing of convicted sex offenders and two days in the role of treatment and supervision of sex offenders and the role of the examiner. Polygraph instructors are certified by APA.

 

 

FEE & COURSE INFORMATION:

Tuition for the advanced course is $650.00. Applications must be received with full payment in the amount of $650.00 by four weeks before, to insure sufficient enrollment to populate the class. A full refund will be made if the class fails to populate. Applications received after four weeks beforerequire a payment of $700.00. Seating is limited to 18 attendees and MICJ reserves the right to cancel the course or change the site if required by enrollment. If the course is canceled, all fees paid in advance will be promptly refunded. A notebook and handout material will be provided and a Diploma will be awarded to attendees who complete all 5 days of instruction and also pass a comprehensive final examination. The APA Certification test will be given to qualified attendees. The course is approved by the APA for continuing education.

Role and Polygraph Coordination of the Therapist and Treatment Providers; Terminology and Treatment Approaches

PCSOT Treatment Program Continued with Case Examples of sex offenders; Coordination of the Court, Probation and Parole Officer & the Role of the Polygraph Examiner

Wednesday -Day #3

Continuation of probation and parole issues. The Treatment Triad

Supervision of offenders, monitoring behavior and polygraph testing concerns. Countermeasures. A brief review of validated testing techniques will be provided.

Thursday -Day #4

Specific Issue Testing Techniques in Sex Offender Programs

Question Formulation in Sex Offender Testing, Monitoring & Specific Testing; Reporting Techniques; Handling the Rapist

Skills Development in Sex Offender Testing; Interview & Interrogation and Verification Tests/Re-examination techniques

Report Writing and Sex Offender Case History Studies Course Critique
