ABOUT THE
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, VICKIE
T. MURPHY
Ms. Murphy has over 20 years experience as a polygraph
examiner. She has achieved nationwide prominence as an active polygraph
examiner and polygraph instructor. She has completed advanced polygraph
training programs, as well as over 50 professional polygraph seminars and
continuing education programs, and has been awarded a Certificate of
Advanced and Specialized Training. She is an active member of the American
Polygraph Association and since 1990 has held the position as National
Secretary of the APA. Ms. Murphy has also held numerous consecutive
terms in office for the Maryland Polygraph Association , including
President, Chairman of the Board, Secretary, Director and Vice President.
Ms. Murphy has published several articles on polygraph,
and is a recipient of both service and merit awards from the Maryland
Polygraph Association and the American Polygraph Association.
In 1993, she was awarded the prestigious J.J.Heger Merit Award by
the American Polygraph Association for her outstanding contributions
to the polygraph community; and in 1997, she was awarded the William L.
Bennett Memorial Award for recognition of excellence for her unrelenting
efforts and display of ability in APA interest.
As an examiner, Ms. Murphy has conducted more than
five thousand polygraph examinations, and provides polygraph service for
police departments, attorneys, prosecutors, doctors, and employers. Her
success rates for confessions range from murder to incest, and she has
qualified and testified as an expert polygraph witness in various court
and administrative proceedings. She serves as a consultant to numerous
police examiners and departments on issues of polygraph techniques, interrogation,
computerized polygraph testing, ADA, EPPA and pre-employment screening
techniques for police departments. She also serves as an intern trainer
for police examiners and provides quality control reviews as needed by
other polygraph examiners.
Since 1992, Ms. Murphy has utilized computerized
polygraph equipment, along with the scoring algorithm, POLYSCORE ,
which was developed by The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics
Laboratory. She provides advanced training on LAFAYETTE computerized
polygraph systems and Polyscore, as well as polygraph testing techniques
of control question formulation and numerical scoring for police examiners.
